
Terriers Split at UMass

Amherst, Mass. - The Boston University swimming and diving program opened its 2009-10 campaign on Saturday afternoon at UMass, where the women's team defeated the Minutewomen by a 175-118 margin. The men's meet came down to the last event; however, UMass came out on top, 153-147. Senior Emily Munday broke a pool record in the 50 free with a time of 24.34.
The men's squad claimed first place in eight events with Bryon Kallert and Kyle Ernst claiming multiple wins. Kallert won the 100 back in 52.44 and the 200 back in 1:54.99. Ernst picked up wins in the 100 breaststroke (59.03), 200 breaststroke (2:10.69) and the 200 IM (1:57.47).
Also claiming wins was Daniel Kempf in the 200 fly (1:58.76) and Tyson Slesnick in the 1,000 free (9:50.33). Tanner Knorr placed second on the the three-meter board as well as on the one-meter. Peter Lo took honor two second-place finishes - first in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.25) and second in the 200 IM (1:59.05).
The Terriers return to the pool on Saturday (Oct. 24) when they host Maine at 1:30 pm at Nickerson Field.
