Red Hot Hockey returns to Madison Square Garden this Saturday (Nov. 28), as Boston University (4-7-1) will face No. 7/8 Cornell (6-2-0) in a rematch of the sold-out 2007 event. The Terriers, who will look to build momentum from their 6-5 overtime win at Harvard on Tuesday, posted a 6-3 victory over the Big Red in the inaugural Red Hot Hockey game.

Check back to this page throughout the night for updates from Madison Square Garden.

10:37 p.m. - The second Red Hot Hockey event ends in a 3-3 tie. Both teams had good opportunities in the overtime but solid play by both goalies sealed the draw. The Terriers next take on Vermont at home on Friday, Dec.4 at 7 p.m.

10:31 p.m. - Rollheiser makes two great saves to start off the overtime period.

10:27 p.m. - Regulation ends in a 3-3 tie and the sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden is in their feet in preparation for the five minute overtime period.

10:22 p.m. - BU GOAL!!! With 51 seconds left and the goalie pulled, Chris Connolly emerges from a crowd in front of the net pumping his fists, tying the game! It's his fifth goal of the season and is now tied with Zach Cohen for the team lead.

10:15 p.m. - A Cornell penalty on Brendon Nash for cross-checking puts BU on the power-play with under three minutes to go in the game. Patrick Kennedy gets booked with 39 seconds left on Nash's penalty and BU pulls its goalie for a 6-on-3 advantage. Cornell calls timeout. The crowd is on its feet THROUGH the timeout.

10:12 p.m. - The first fight of the game, the result of frustration on the part of the Terriers. Matching minors for roughing keeps the Cornell five-on-four advantage alive for another 42 seconds.

10:09 p.m. - An untimely penalty on Eric Gryba for elbowing with 5:30 to go in the game will test the mettle of the BU penalty kill.

10:05 p.m. - The final media timeout of the game. With 7:36 left in the game, the Terriers hold a 27-12 edge in shots. However, the Terriers are 0-2 this season when holding opponents to between 0-19 shots on the game and 2-5-1 when outshooting an opponent. They are 2-1 on the season when being outshot.

10:02 p.m. - The fifth Cornell penalty of the night as John Esposito is booked for interference. A few nice shots right off the bat for the Terriers but Scrivens looks solid in net.

9:56 p.m. - The crowd has come alive for BU as the Bonino goal and a Cornell penalty have ramped up the Terriers offensive threat.

9:51 p.m. - BU GOAL!! A little trouble with the internet but no problem with the offense! Nick Bonino worked his way down the ice and had an open teammate across ice, but chose to take it himself for BU's second goal. The Terriers 34-0-4 in their last 38 games in which Bonino has tallied a point. There is 14:04 left in the game.

9:35 p.m. - Score one for BU!!...in the Pedal Car Race during the second intermission. The announcer for the New York Rangers is keeping the crowd into it, but the Terriers fans let him have it when he mistakenly referred to the BU contestant as a "BC Senior." And now for the ever popular kiss-cam... Red Hot Hockey indeed!

9:29 p.m. - The second period ends with the score Cornell 3, BU 1. The Terriers still hold the edge in shots at 19-11, but have been held 0-for-3 on the power-play.

9:25 p.m. - A great offensive push for BU results in a penalty on Cornell's Mike Devin, two minutes for cross-checking.

9:21 p.m. - A Sean Escobedo tripping penalty gets killed off by the Terriers but BU is having trouble clearing the puck, even at full strength.

9:14 p.m. - CORNELL GOAL; Retaliation. Swift retaliation. As the penalty was expiring, Blake Gallagher took a pass from Sean Whitney and beat Rollhesier for a 3-1 lead. They are counting it as a power-play goal as the puck went in just as the penalty was up. Cornell has now scored multiple power-play goals in five of nine games this season and have the second-ranked power-play in the nation, coming into the game scoring at 31 percent.

9:11 p.m. - BU GOAL!! David Warsofsky collects a puck at mid-ice and fires a shot from the left faceoff circle that sneaks by Scrivens' right blocker. It is Warsofsky's fourth goal of the season and his second shorthanded tally. The goal ties him for second on the team in goals with Chiasson and Connolly. His last shorthanded goal came against UMass Lowell in Lowell.

9:10 p.m. - Colby Cohen rockets two missiles towards the Cornell net but both attempts are blocked. On the Big Red counter attack, Cohen gets booked for a slash, putting Cornell on its third power-play.

9:07 p.m. - A rare media timeout here at Madison Square Garden. The Terriers are looking to move above .500 on the year when facing ranked teams, as BU has wins over Michigan and UMass Lowell this season.

9:04 p.m. - The Terriers looked poised on the penalty kill, essentially taking the crowd out of the game without scoring a goal of their own. The team looks more calm and collected, moving the puck well through mid-ice and in the defensive end.

9:01 p.m. - A promising BU offensive push is thwarted as Alex Chiasson gets two minutes for slashing. Cornell already has a power-play goal tonight and is 1-for-1 on the power-play so far.

8:55 p.m. - While the MSG crowd is leaning towards the Big Red, BU boasts a number of Tri-State Area natives on its roster. Scott Weighart, author of "Burn The Boats,"the book detailing the Terriers' national championship season, wrote a nice feature article on the New York-area athletes. Click Here to read the piece.

8:50 p.m. - The first intermission starts off with a human puck race, pitting two BU students against two Cornell students, dressed as gigantic hockey pucks. The foursome weaved through a set of cones and then had to drop a puck in a bucket and the Cornell student took home the win.

Video montages usually shown at BU's Agganis Arena, are being displayed on the jumbotron at MSG. The BU faithful is in full throat as the screen is showing a detailed account of last year's National Championship run.

8:45 p.m. - Although former BU players and Hobey Baker Award winners Matt Gilroy and Chris Drury could not attend tonight's game, being on the road with their current team the New York Rangers, Gilroy gave the BU faithful a nod, appearing on the video board during the first period toting a Terrier jersey.

8:42 p.m. - The first period ends with BU trailing 2-0, despite holding an 8-5 lead in shots. The scoreless period ends a streak of eight straight periods in which the Terriers have scored at least one goal. BU ends the period 0-2 on the power-play as Cornell boasts the 10th-ranked penalty kill in the nation.

8:39 p.m. - BU holds a slight edge in shots (7-5) through 17 minutes of play, but the physicality of the game has picked up as teams are starting to check with more and more aggression. The physical play results in a Cornell penalty on Patrick Kennedy for holding, putting BU on its second power-play.

8:33 p.m. - A few good chances on the BU power-play do not result in any goals. The score remains 2-0 with 7:00 to play in the first.

8:29 p.m. - Riley Nash gets called for hooking midway through the first period. BU gets its first power-play opportunity of the game. A great save from Scrivens on a Pereira one-timer starts the man-up opportunity.

8:25 p.m. - Both Big Red goal scorers have registered their first goals of the season. The goal was Whitney's first of his career and Jillson's was his second at Cornell. The Terriers are 0-6-1 this season when conceding the first goal in a game, after going 8-4-1 in such situations last year.

8:22 p.m. - CORNELL GOAL; A great offensive effort from BU gets turned around quickly as a loose puck out of the Cornell end is gathered by Locke Jillson and brought the length of the ice for the Big Red's second goal of the game. Coach Parker promptly calls a timeout to settle down his team in a raucous arena.

8:16 p.m. - CORNELL GOAL; After Chris Connolly blocked a shot by Sean Whitney, the sophomore regained control of the puck and beat Rollheiser glove side on Cornell's first power-play. The Big Red takes an early lead.

8:13 p.m. - A great save off the right blocker by Grant Rollheiser off a Patrick Kennedy shot is followed by a penalty by Vinny Saponari, putting Cornell on the power-play.

8:10 p.m. - President of Cornell University Dr.David Skorton and President of Boston University Dr.Robert Brown have dropped the ceremonial first puck at center ice with captains Colin Greening and Kevin Shattenkirk. It's game time!

8:01 p.m. - As the lineups are being introduced, it is clear that Cornell is not just the home team on paper. A sold-out Madison Square Garden is charged for a heated battle, but is heavily in favor of the Big Red.

7:59 p.m. - Senior captain Colin Greening has scored a point in all but one game this season for the Big Red.

Sophomore defenseman Sean Whitney is the brother of former BU standout Ryan Whitney.

7:56 p.m. - BU will playing its 10th game at Madison Square Garden. Prior to the first Red Hot Hockey game, the Terriers had not played at MSG since the 1977 ECAC Holiday Festival.

The Terriers are 6-2-1 (.722) in the building, with all six wins coming in the last six contests.

Just over a month after the 50th Street incarnation (MSG III) opened on Dec. 15, 1925, BU made its first appearance there in an exhibition game against the St. Nicholas Hockey Club on Jan. 27, 1926, and dropped a 5-1 decision.

All of the Terriers' other trips to MSG were for the ECAC Holiday Festival, beginning in 1961.
