BOSTON - Rising juniors Dana DeStefano and Ana Johnson, along with rising senior Kaitlyn Mardeusz, have been named captains for the 2009-10 season, head coach Bruce Chalas announced. The trio will lead a squad that returns six letter winners and finished second at this year's America East Golf Championships.
"I am looking forward to working with all three tri-captains next year," said Chalas. "Ana, Kaitlyn and Dana have displayed team leadership and all have a strong commitment to the Boston University women's golf program."
Johnson, an America East All-Academic honoree, completed her 2009 season on a strong note as she recorded a championship-best round on the first day of the America East Golf Championships, when she carded an impressive 75.
Mardeusz finished in a tie for sixth at the AE Championships with a two-day total of 163. Not content with her first round, Mardeusz improved by five strokes with a 79 on day two - her best round of the year.
At the AE Championships, DeStefano also improved on her first round, carding an 85 on day two to finish with a two-day total of 172 - good for 12th overall.
The trio claimed three of the top four spots on the Terriers' leaderboard at the AE Championships, and they will lead a squad that returns six letter winners, placed second at the league tournament and carded a season-best 664.
