The Boston University athletic department's marketing communications staff has been honored by its peers with multiple honors from both the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization.
On Friday, during its 18th annual convention, NACMA presented awards in 13 categories, with each divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations. A total of 700 entries were received for the 2008-09 year, according to NACMA.
BU received the "Best of" Award for sponsorship program for group II. Students who attended the men's basketball game against UMBC and the women's contest against Siena were each treated to a special promotion, Lazybone's Laundry Night at The Roof. Those in attendance received a free laundry pick-up, wash and drop-off.
The staff also worked with the Hockey East Conference in coordinating the league's Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer promotion, which won the silver medal for single-day attendance promotion in group III.
CoSIDA tabbed earlier this month BU's men's ice hockey guide as the third-best in the nation, while also honoring the publication for having the best cover.
The women's ice hockey guide placed third against other women's ice hockey guides and also took eighth overall in the single sport guides category, which included sports like men's volleyball, field hockey and water polo.
