NY Times: NCAA Names Isch Interim President to Replace Brand
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - James Isch, who received a Master's degree from Boston University, was named interim president for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the organization announced Tuesday. Isch steps in for the late Myles Brand, who died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 67.
Prior to being named interim president, Isch served as the NCAA's vice president for administration and chief financial officer, overseeing the budget for the premier governing body of college athletics. Isch has made it clear that intends to move forward with Brand's vision for the organization, including attention to academic reform, the fiscal stability of the organization and to emphasize the student-athlete.
Isch began working at the NCAA office after administrative stints at Arkansas, Kansas State and Montana State. Prior to receiving his graduate degree from BU, Isch served in the Army and earned a Bachelor's degree from Kansas State. He went onto receive a doctorate degree in philosophy from Kansas State.
