
Terriers Sweep Bryant and Maine

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team defeated Bryant and Maine on Saturday backed by eight victories. BU remains undefeated in dual-meet action this season.
The Terriers defeated Bryant by score of 184-108 and the Black Bears by a 185-109 margin.
The 400-medley relay teams got things going in the first race with a 1-2 finish. The quartet of freshman Kendra Cheng, junior Amanda Schmitz, sophomore Lauren Drake and senior Sarah Doersam clocked in with a winning time of 3:58.83. Close behind was freshman Meaghan Grimes, freshman Charlotte Naylor, sophomore Kara Zebrowski and sophomore Alex Hunter in 4:02.59.
In the longest event of the afternoon - the 1,000 free - senior Clara Van Allen claimed victory with a time of 10:40.13, while sophomore Megan Happ came in second (10:43.83) and junior Kristen Connors placed third (10:55.83).
Just two events after her second-place finish in the 400-medley relay, Grimes touched first in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.53, while the duo of Schmitz and Cheng went 1-2 in the 200 fly with times of 2:04.04 and 2:12.74, respectively.
In the fastest event in the pool, McIntyre came out on top with a winning time of 23.98 in the 50 free, while senior Kirsten Tullis won the 100 free in 53.55.
Connors and Grimes rounded out BU's winners with victories in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.61) and 500 free (5:03.04), respectively.
In the diving events, BU maintained its dominance with a 1-2-3 sweep of the podium on the 1M and 3M. Sophomore Melinda Matyas led all divers with scores of 275.25, followed by Chelsea Glincman (246.30) and Sarah Colton (240.30) on the 1M. On the 3M, Matyas scored a 277.43, while Glincman followed with a 233.78 and Colton a 231.30.
Before hosting the Terrier Invitational from Nov. 19-21, BU will hit the round for four road meets: UMBC (Oct. 30), Colgate (Nov. 7), Stony Brook (Nov. 12) and Fordam (Nov. 13).
