Greetings Terrier Nation,
My name is Rhett, and I am the official mascot for Boston University.
While I may not be able to talk, I am eloquent on paper and am excited to announce that as part of the recent redesign of GoTerriers.com, the Department of Athletics has given me full ownership of its blog.
Now why would they give me control? Well, I am without a doubt the program's biggest fan, and I always keep my ear to the ground for good stories to pass along.
For those who may not know me, here's a little info on my background. I was born on November 15, 1922 and was immediately named the official mascot after students decided they wanted a Boston Terrier to represent the university.
Standing 6-foot-3, I weigh 200 pounds and am filled with exuberant energy. My favorite foods include corn dogs, hot dogs, chili dogs and BC Eagles. Besides attending many of the athletic home games, I like to walk around campus and make appearances at the GSU, dining halls, and other locations for BU events.
I also love to attend birthday parties and being involved in the Greater Boston Area community by spending time with kids of all ages at children's hospitals and local schools. As an aside, I encourage children to join the Junior Terriers Club for free, so that they can receive my quarterly newsletter.
Anyways, check back here frequently for updates on the teams and any other interesting information that I find out. The website has undergone some dramatic changes and there are new features constantly being added, so stay tuned.
For the former BU Terriers, let me know how you're doing with an update. We want to share your story and also spend some time looking back at some of my favorite memories.
Also, Terrier Nation is encouraged to e-mail me by clicking here. Feel free to ask me any question, and I'll do my best to respond on here.
Finally, if you'd like for me to attend your event, please fill out this online form.
Thanks for reading and look forward to seeing you at the next home event. Go Terriers!
Sincerely,
Rhett
