My first Friday blog mainly concerns an interesting flight that the field hockey team was on last Sunday, but before I delve into that, there are a couple of other items to pass along. Needless to say, it's a very busy weekend for BU Athletics.
First, men's ice hockey fans not able to attend the Icebreakers have the opportunity to watch all four games by going to http://www.ppv.hockeyprimetime.com/. It's $9.95 for all four games.
Second, in case you haven't heard, men's basketball will 'host' Albany at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 10, 2011. Both head coach Patrick Chambers and senior John Holland share comments on what should be a great experience for the guys. As we near the game, I'll be sure to share some of my favorite memories of the "World's Most Famous Arena".
Thirdly, the men's soccer team will put its three-game win streak on the line against Hartford on Saturday at Nickerson Field. The women defeated the Hawks, 3-0, last night on the road and are on a six-game winning streak. Besides having not allowed a goal in 558:02 minutes, BU has only dropped one game to an unranked team all season long.
On Monday, BU had an RPI ranking of 56. UNH is the next closest at 179, so congrats to the women on their success so far this season!
Now to the not-so-fun story of the field hockey team's airplane trip last Sunday. After playing at No. 13 Duke, my fellow Terriers took a flight back to Boston from Raleigh in North Carolina. Nearing home, they confronted turbulence, and the trip became one they will never forget.
I usually fall asleep quickly on flights and don't wake up until landing, so I'm curious to know at what point would I have been awakened by the airplane moving up and down so violently. Some of the women were interviewed about the ordeal this week by local TV stations.

The field hockey team has two games this weekend and will host Fairfield on Saturday and then Dartmouth on Sunday. Both games will start at 2 p.m.
No school on Monday so to all BU students, have a great three-day weekend. Hope to see you at some of the games.
