NFHCA Division I Poll (Sept. 7)
Off to its best start in 23 years, the Boston University field hockey team came in at No. 15 in this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, as announced on Tuesday morning. The Terriers are 4-0 on the young season with victories over Massachusetts, Providence, Virigina Commonwealth and Hofstra and will face No. 7 Boston College in a crosstown match-up of undefeated squads on Friday.
The Terriers made the biggest jump of any team in the country compared to the preseason rankings. BU was just outside the top 20 in the preseason poll, but was third among teams also receiving votes.
BU will attempt to go 5-0 for the first time in program history when they take on BC, as the only two other Terrier squads (1978, 1987) that won their first four games either tied or lost their fifth contest.
