BOSTON - Boston University men's basketball senior John Holland, who was tabbed America East Player of the Year and was named to the Lou Henson "Mid-Major" All-America team, has earned Associated Press All-America honorable mention honors, the news organization announced Monday.
Holland is the fifth-ever Terrier to receive the distinction and first since BU Hall of Famer Tunji Awojobi ('97). Other honorees include Tony Simms ('83) and BU Hall of Famers Steve Wright ('80) and Kevin Thomas ('56).
Earlier recognized as the America East tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Holland also received All-District honors from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
The 6-foot-5 wingman finished the season leading the league in scoring at 19.2 ppg, becoming just the fourth in the conference's history to repeat as scoring champion. He also averaged a team-high 5.8 rpg and recorded 47 steals.
In his final game, he tallied a game-high 19 points against Kansas in the second round of the NCAAs after posting his 10th-career double-double (27 pts., 11 rebs.) against Stony Brook to help BU claim the program's sixth league title and seventh NCAA berth.
