LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior Rich Peters of the Boston University men's cross country team concluded the 2012 season at the NCAA Championships on Saturday afternoon at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Despite feeling ill, Peters courageously competed on Saturday but was unable to complete the course. He was the first Terrier to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Jochen Dieckfoss finished 72nd in 2003.
It was Peters' best cross country season of his collegiate career, as the Bristol, England, native earned All-Region honors thanks to his performance at the Northeast Regional on Nov. 9. He finished ninth and completed the course with a time of 30:29.8. He was just 2.8 seconds behind the fourth-place finisher and was the only America East harrier to qualify for Saturday's national championship race.
Peters has already been successful on the national stage in track and field, as he was the national runner-up in the mile at last year's NCAA Championships and was a two-time First Team All-American in 2012.
