BOSTON - Emily Tillo has signed her National Letter of Intent and will join the Boston University women’s golf team in the fall as announced by head coach Bruce Chalas.
Tillo will join the Terriers Class of 2016 after four years at Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville, Fla., where she was a four-time Northeast Florida Gateway Conference golf champion. She earned All First Coast Golf Second Team honors for three seasons before being named to the First Team as a senior.
“We are very excited to have Emily Tillo join the golf team in the fall,” said Chalas. “Emily is an excellent student and one of the top golfers in the North Florida region. Emily has a strong work ethic and will add depth to our lineup.”
Tillo was a two-time FHSAA District Champion and played in the regional finals all four years, posting a fifth place finish as a senior. In 2010, she was named the North Florida Junior Golf Foundation’s 2010 Player of the Year after finishing the FHSAA State Golf Championship in a tied for 32nd.
In the summer of 2011, Tillo represented the Jacksonville golf community at the Florida Junior Team Championships, where she placed fourth as an individual.
Tillo was also a member of the varsity swimming team and captured the conference champion in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke during her sophomore season. An accomplished student, Tillo is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She will enroll in BU’s School of Management.
