Two members of the Boston University’s women’s rowing team won gold medals on Saturday at the Canada Games held in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Junior Kelly Jackson helped Team British Columbia win two gold medals in the rowing pairs and fours competitions while sophomore Emily Lerhe, also rowing for Team British Columbia, took home gold in the quadruple sculls.
“I'm proud of Emily and Kelly for their dedication,” said women’s head rowing coach Stacey Rippetoe. “I know racing in the Canada Games was important to both of them and it didn't allow for much rest time. I also am impressed with Kelly and Emily's versatility as both of them raced events that were new for them.”
Both Jackson and Lerhe were part of the Terriers' 2013 CAA Championship team. Jackson sat third in the varsity eight boat that defeated Northeastern by 2 seconds at the CAAs while Lerhe sat stroke for the second varsity eight boat that finished in second place behind Buffalo.
Lerhe and Jackson now return to Boston University and prepare for the Terriers' fall season, the team’s first as members of the Patriot League.
