Terriers Take Fifth at New England Championship

BOSTON - The Boston University men's cross country team finished fifth at the New England Championship hosted at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers collected 182 points in the 39-team field, well ahead of sixth-place Northeastern (247). Providence and Brown tied for first with 72 points each. It is the Terriers' third straight top-five finish at the New England Championship.
Kevin Thomas led the way for BU with a ninth-place performance, his second in as many competitions. The junior crossed the finish line with a time of 24:49:39. Senior Ben Ravetz was next for the Terriers as he placed 19th with a time of 25:00.06. Alec Olson also finished in the top 30, as the junior's time of 25:06.73 was good for 28th. Olson's classmate, Paul Gennaro, was 43rd (25:16.74).
Also competing for the Terriers in the varsity 8K were sophomore Mitch Russo (25:37.90), senior Stuart Ross (25:59.24) and sophomore Matti Groll (26:07.05).
BU will be back in action on Oct. 24 at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet. It will be the final competition before the Patriot League Championship on Nov. 1.
