WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior captain Marie-Philip Poulin of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Poulin was instrumental in the Terriers' weekend sweep of reigning NCAA champion Clarkson. She tallied three goals and added an assist for four points in the pair of road wins, with three points (2g, 1a) coming in Saturday's 5-2 victory. Poulin was a plus-5 over the weekend, which was best among all skaters, and she also blocked two shots.
A native of Beauceville, Quebec, Poulin has averaged a goal per game, which is tied for the league lead. She has scored in three of four contests and has also won close to 60 percent of faceoffs this season.
BU will be back in action on Friday afternoon (Oct. 24) when they begin a two-game series at Maine.
