November 24, 2014 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior Sarah Lefort of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Lefort was terrific this past weekend for the Terriers, especially in their 6-2 win over New Hampshire on Sunday. She notched her fourth career hat trick and added an assist for a four-point afternoon against the Wildcats. All four points came on the power play and Lefort moved into a tie for first in the NCAA with five power-play markers.
The Ormstown, Quebec, native also assisted on Samantha Sutherland's strike in the Terriers' 1-1 tie with Harvard on Friday night. Lefort now has five points (1g, 4a) against ranked opponents this season. She is tied for ninth in the nation with 10 goals and her 21 points have her tied for seventh among NCAA skaters in scoring.
BU will travel to Hanover, New Hampshire, on Saturday for a non-conference clash with Dartmouth. Puck drop is set for 12 p.m.
