The No. 5/6 Boston University women's ice hockey team will begin a stretch of two straight road games on Saturday when the Terriers trek to Hanover, New Hampshire, to face Dartmouth. Puck drop is set for 12 p.m.
BU (9-3-2, 6-2-0 WHEA) and Dartmouth (4-2-0, 2-2-0 ECAC) have met just three times in the Terriers' 10-year history, with each team posting a 1-1-1 record. BU won the last meeting, 3-2, on Jan. 4, 2014.
There was plenty of offense in the Terriers' last victory, a 6-2 win over New Hampshire on Sunday. BU scored a program-record five power-play goals in the triumph and has now potted seven of its last 10 goals with a player advantage. The Terriers improved their power play percentage to 23.7, which ranks sixth in the nation.
Junior Sarah Lefort is the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week after she recorded her fourth career hat trick on Sunday. She finished the weekend with five points (3g, 2a), with all three of her goals coming via the power play. Lefort entered the school record book as the first player to have four career hat tricks, and she also etched her name in the NCAA record book thanks to her three power-play goals in one game. She is the eighth player in NCAA history to accomplish that feat.
In addition to the team's offensive output of late, the Terriers have maintained a strong defensive front. They have allowed just 1.8 goals per game over the last four tilts while holding teams to just 20.8 shots per game. At even strength over that same stretch, the Terriers have kept teams to less than 16 shots on goal per game.
Dartmouth won its first four games of the season before stumbling in the North Country last weekend. The Big Green lost a 2-1 tilt at St. Lawrence before dropping a 3-0 decision at Clarkson the next day. Darrmouth ranks third in the nation on the power play, having converted on 31.6 percent of its chances. It is also fourth on the penalty kill at 94.1 percent.
Junior Laura Stacey leads Dartmouth in points (9) and assists (5) while classmate Lindsey Allen is tops on the team with six goals this season. Sophomore Robyn Chemago has started all six games between the pipes for the Big Green, posting a 1.51 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage.
Following Saturday's showdown, BU will return to league play on Dec. 6 at Vermont.
