Former Boston University rower Lynn Ratte has been named assistant coach of the women’s rowing team, head coach Stacey Rippetoe announced this week.
Ratte joins the Terriers' full-time staff after serving as an assistant coach at Marietta College since September 2014 where she taught freshman walk-ons technique and helped recruit incoming freshman rowers.
“Lynn is an excellent addition to our staff,” said Rippetoe. “She has experienced firsthand our plan for building our team's speed and has been an integral part of our recent success. I have total confidence in Lynn's strong work ethic, intuitive leadership, and loyalty and I'm very excited to have her back in Boston.”
Ratte was named captain of the Terriers her senior year and was part of BU’s varsity eight boat that was awarded the Patriot League Boat of the Year distinction in 2014 after its dramatic victory in the final race of the 2014 Patriot League Championship. The win propelled BU to its second-straight NCAA Championship appearance. After her senior season, Ratte was named First Team All-Conference Patriot League and Mid-Atlantic First Team All-Region.
In 2013, Ratte helped the Terriers to a conference title when she sat in the six seat for the varsity eight boat that won the CAA Championship race. The victory earned BU its first trip to the NCAAs since 2006.
In addition to her recent work at Marietta College, Ratte also served as a volunteer coach at Viking Rowing Camp, ACRA Summer Sculling Camp and Malden High School.
The Egg Harbor, N.J. native earned her B.A. in psychology from Boston University in 2014.
