
Track & Field Teams Compete at New England Championships

BOSTON – The Boston University men’s and women’s track & field teams hosted the New England Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Track and Tennis Center.
The women’s team finished 15th (16 points) while the men’s squad earned 22 points to finish 12th. Both teams will compete in the BU Last Chance Meet on Sunday (March 2) before the ECAC/IC4A Championships next weekend (March 7-9).
Freshman Fiona Doolan finished fourth in the 1,000m run with a time of 2:55.31. Junior Ashli Tagoai (4:55.50) and senior Nikki Long (4:58.86) finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the mile, while freshman Hallie Armstrong (2:20.94) ran the prelims of the 800m run.
In field events, junior Tessa Runels was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.84 meters while senior Sarah Dillard finished sixth in the weight throw (15.53m) and eighth in the shot put (12.56m).
On the men’s side, sophomore Reuben Horace took third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.53 meters. Junior Nikolaos Farmakidis finished fourth in the pole (4.81m) and classmate Ethan Knight was fourth in the shot put (16.13m). Senior Nat Hinckley placed fourth in the heptathlon (4764) and freshman Sebastian Prieto Vasquez was eight in that event (4117).
Sophomore Paul Gennaro (8:39.82) competed in the 3,000m run while freshman Matti Groll (4:14.13) and junior John McKeon (4:23.66) completed the mile. Freshman Ethan Homan (1:53.58) raced in the prelims of the 800m run and junior Alex Civitano (2:32.89) ran in the prelims of the 1,000m run.
