Women's Rowing Defeats Rutgers, Finish Second To Michigan State

The Boston University women's rowing team opened their 2014 spring season in New Brunswick, N.J. Friday night with a victory over Rutgers University in the varsity eight race.
Coxed by senior Sarah Specht and stroked by freshman Kerri Wegner, the Terriers' varsity eight boat finished with a time of 7:16.08, ahead of Rutgers by four seconds but behind race winner MIchigan State.
In the second varsity eight race, the Terriers finished fourth but just one second in back of Rutgers and behind Michigan State's 2V and 3V boats. Coxed by junior Eline Vermeulen and stroked by senior Mackenzie Wiler, the Terriers finished with a time of 7:42.3, just behind Rutgers with a time of 7:41.4.
The women's rowing team will return home to the DeWolfe Boathouse to face off against URI, Dartmouth and Rutgers again on April 5th.
