The Boston University golf team will compete at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday and Sunday (April 19-20), hosted by Lehigh at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
BU is a co-favorite to win the two-day, 54-hole event. The Terriers tied with the host Mountain Hawks for first in the league's championship poll and received six first-place votes, more than any other school. Three Terriers have won monthly awards from the conference, as sophomore Emily Tillo (October), junior Kristyna Pavlickova (November) and freshman Adela Cejnarova (March). BU is also 72 spots ahead of Lehigh in this week's Golfstat rankings.
The competition will begin with the first 36 holes on Saturday and conclude with the final 18 on Sunday. Each participating team is limited to six golfers with the top four scorers each round counting towards the team total. The final team score is determined by totaling all completed rounds. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds.
In addition to Cejnarova, Pavlickova and Tillo, the Terriers will have junior Flor Canedo, senior Christine Silen and sophomore Maddy Silverman in their lineup. Silverman will tee off first on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. BU had a strong showing at the MAAC Championship last year, finishing second and boasting the Rookie of the Year (Tillo) and the Coach of the Year (Bruce Chalas).
