Ravetz, Terriers Take Second at Ted Owen Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Paced by senior Ben Ravetz’s second-place performance, the Boston University men’s cross country team finished second at the Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Central Connecticut State.
BU totaled 54 points to finish behind only the hosts, as Central Connecticut State finished with 33 points. The Terriers totaled two top-10 finishes and five of their harriers were in the top 20.
Ravetz came close to crossing the finish line first, but he was edged by less than a second. The senior had a time of 25:51.0, edged only by Temple’s Matthew Kacyon (25:50.6). Junior Paul Gennaro finished fifth with a time of 26:24.2 while classmate Kevin Thomas finished ninth (26:41.5). A pair of sophomores secured top-15 finishes as Mitch Russo (27:13.12) and Matti Groll (27:23.5) were 13th and 14th, respectively.
Sophomore Ethan Homan finished 21st thanks to a time of 27:53.1 while John McKeon was right behind him in 23rd place (27:56.2). Freshman Liam O’Connell finished 27th in his collegiate debut with a time of 28:03.0. Syian Srikumar finished 34th while Alex Civitano was next to cross the line in 35th. Senior Zach Marriott rounded out the BU contingent in 42nd position.
The Terriers will be back in action on Oct. 11 when they compete at the New England Championships at Franklin Park.
