
Terriers Sweep Lehigh To Open Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In the first meet of the season, the Boston University swimming and diving teams took home wins against Lehigh. The men's team finished with a score of 177-121 while the women's team took a dominant 192-106 victory against the Mountain Hawks, who finished just eight points behind the Terriers at the 2015 Patriot League Championships.
Of the 16 total events, the women's team had a first-place finisher in 13, led by Nikki Bookwalter and Sarah Hargrave who each won two events. In the remaining three events, the Terriers' top-finisher took second place.
On the men's side, Garrett Chin had an impressive day, winning the 200 back and 200 IM and swimming to a personal-best time in the 200 fly. He finished in second place in the 200 fly with a time of 1:50.26.
In total, the Terriers had 21 first-place finishers including wins in every diving event, led by Eric Mitchell, who finished first on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Lizzie Tillo won the 3-meter dive for the women while Kyra Tatlow took first on the 1-meter board.
The BU freshman class had an impressive day, collecting four individual wins and two second-place finishes. Erin Nabney won both the 100 and 200 breast while Trevor Winans and Julimar Avila each tallied a first- and second-place finish in their events.
The Terriers are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they host Patriot League Rival Bucknell at 1:30 p.m. in the Competition Pool.
