
Terriers Claim Sweep over Bucknell in Home Opener

BOSTON - Continuing its strong start to the season against Patriot League competition, the Boston University swimming diving teams won a combined 26 of 32 races against Bucknell in the home opener Saturday afternoon at the Competition Pool. The men's team posted a winning score of 185-115, while the women claimed an even more dominating 194-106 victory over the Bison.
Bucknell was selected second in the Patriot League women's preseason poll by four points ahead of the Terriers with two first-place votes, while the men finished just seven points behind the No. 3 Terriers. BU won both 200-yard medley relay races by more than three seconds to open the competition and never looked back.
The women won 13 events for the second consecutive week with freshman Erin Nabney winning three individual races (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM). She also helped the Terriers win the 200 medley relay alongside classmate Julimar Avila, who had victories in the 50 free and 100 fly.
Junior Sarah Hargrave was impressive in the distance races, winning both the 500 and 1000 free, while sophomore Kyra Tatlow excelled in the 1 and 3-meter diving events.
On the men's side, the Terriers also won 13 races. Junior Daniel Andronov (100, 200 breast) and sophomore Garrett Chin (200 back, 200 IM) won two races apiece, while sophomore Adam Gross swept the diving events.
Andronov also helped BU win the 200 medley relay alongside sophomore Quinn Smith, who posted victories in both the 50 free and 400 free relay.
The Terriers will next hit the road and visit UMass on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m.
