November 4, 2015 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Sammy Davis of the Boston University women’s ice hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month, the league announced on Wednesday.
Davis was terrific in the first month of her collegiate career, collecting five goals and adding two assists for seven points in just eight games. She led the nation’s rookies in goals per game and also generated the most possession of any Hockey East rookie with 32 shots on goal and an average of four shots on goal per game. Davis was also one of just two league freshmen to have a multi-goal game.
A native of Pembroke, Massachusetts, Davis recorded one game-winning goal and two power-play markers in October. She led the league’s freshmen with three third-period goals and three goals while the Terriers trailed; two of those goals while BU was behind led to comeback victories.
Davis currently leads all NCAA rookies with seven goals after she scored twice at New Hampshire on Nov. 1. She and the Terriers will face off against No. 2 Boston College on Saturday (3 p.m.) at Walter Brown Arena.
