The Boston University women's ice hockey team will travel to Chestnut Hill to face No. 2 Boston College on Tuesday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
BU (6-5-0, 4-2-0 WHEA) suffered an 8-1 setback against BC (11-0-0, 5-0-0 WHEA) on Saturday, though the Terriers did lead that contest, 1-0, on the strength of a Sammy Davis goal. The freshman forward now has eight markers on the season, one behind the NCAA rookie leader. Senior Jordan Juron and junior Samantha Sutherland assisted on the goal.
Junior Victoria Hanson is the projected starting goaltender for the Terriers on Tuesday after sophomore Erin O'Neil got the nod in the last four games. Hanson has had success of late against the Eagles, as she owns a .956 save percentage over her last two starts against BC. She has allowed just three goals in those two tilts, including a 32-save performance in the Terriers' 4-1 win over BC in the 2015 WHEA title game.
Five different Terriers have at least 10 points this season, with three of those skaters on the same line. Sophomore Rebecca Leslie leads the team with 15 points (4g, 11a), followed by linemates Rebecca Russo (4g, 10a) and Maddie Elia (7g, 3a). Davis (8g, 2a) and sophomore Victoria Bach (3g, 7a) also have 10 points.
The Terriers are the only team to score a power-play goal against BC this season; the Eagles are now 38-of-39 on the penalty kill this year. BC is led offensively by senior Alex Carpenter, who has scored 15 goals and added 13 assists for 28 points. Classmate Haley Skarupa has 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists, while freshman Makenna Newkirk leads the nation's rookies with nine goals. Sophomore goaltender Katie Burt owns a .958 save percentage and a 0.90 goals-against average.
Following Tuesday's tilt, BU will welcome Maine to Walter Brown Arena for a weekend series beginning Saturday at 3 p.m.
