DURHAM, N.H.--A fourth quarter push could not make up for an early deficit as the Boston University women's basketball team suffered a 69-52 loss at New Hampshire on Saturday evening in Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Terriers (0-7) end a four game road trip and look to bounce back at home on Wednesday, Dec. 9 against Rhode Island in Case Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
BU finished the game on a 17-1 run over the final seven minutes including seven second-chance points and eight in the paint. All of the points in that stretch were scored by bench players, who totaled 33 points throughout the game.
Meghan Green led the team with 15 points including 10 in the second half while Sarah Hope also reached double-digit scoring with 12 points, going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Hope now ranks 10th in the BU record book with 117 3-pointers in her career.
BU shot 34.5 percent overall (20-58) including a 41.9 percent showing (13-31) in the second half. The Wildcats went 25-of-54 from the field (46.3%) throughout the game and shot over 50 percent during the first half.
All 12 players that dressed for the game saw at least four minutes of action including sophomore Meghan Doogan and freshman Milla Ekstrom, who both scored their first points of the season. Ekstrom hit a layup in the fourth quarter to score the first points of her collegiate career.
The Wildcats started the game off strong, jumping out to a 12-point lead by the middle of the first quarter. They kept the pressure on throughout the rest of the first half and went into the locker room with a 37-19 lead at halftime.
The third quarter went nearly the same way as the first half and by the end, the Terriers had a 28-point deficit to overcome.
Despite the team's best efforts, BU could not make up for UNH's early scoring and settled for a 69-52 loss.
