Terriers Complete Double Dual at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Boston University swimming and diving team finished its first quad meet of the season on Saturday at Rutgers. The women's team came away with a win against UConn while the men suffered losses to UConn and Yale.
The Terriers collected seven first-place finishes between the men's and women's teams. The BU men finished 246-107 with Yale and 199-154 against UConn while the women defeated UConn, 187.5-165.5 and suffered a 242-111 loss to Rutgers.
On the women's side, two Terriers set personal records including Julimar Avila, as she won the 50 free sprint (23.94). Isabella Olivares also collected a PR on the day with a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (57.50).
In addition to Avila, fellow freshman Erin Nabney took home a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.95. Along with these wins, a total of 14 top-three finishes were recorded on the day for BU.
On the men's side, Garrett Chin had an impressive day, taking wins in the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 fly, which he set a personal record in, beating his previous mark by nearly two seconds (1:49.78). He also placed third in the 200 backstroke to help his team amass 11 top-three finishes.
Trevor Winans also had an excellent day, taking second place the 1000 freestyle in personal record time (9:38.51). He also won the 500 freestyle and tried his hand in the sprint competition, placing fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100 freestyle.
Rounding out personal record performances is Zack Woo, who finished sixth in the 200 breaststroke in a personal-best time of 2:09.24.
The Terriers are back in action in the new year, and will head to Colgate for a dual meet with the Raiders on Jan. 9 beginning at 1 p.m.
