CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Boston University women's golf team was selected to finish first in the Patriot League Women's Golf Preseason Poll, the conference announced on Wednesday.
BU, which finished second at its inaugural appearance at the Patriot League Championship, garnered eight first-place votes and earned 48 points. Lehigh was second with 39 points and two first-place nods while new member Richmond took third (30). Bucknell, the defending champion, received the remaining pair of first-place votes and was fourth in the poll (29). Navy (24) and Holy Cross rounded out the poll.
The Terriers return three All-Patriot League honorees from last year, including senior and 2014 championship runner-up Kristyna Pavlickova. Reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year Adela Cejnarova took fifth at the conference championship last year while junior Emily Tillo was a second-team All-League selection.
BU begins its spring season on Sunday in the opening round of the 54-hole Kiawah Island Spring Classic. The Terriers will be one of 40 teams at the event, which is tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country.
