WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior captain Marie-Philip Poulin was named Hockey East Player of the Month, the league announced on Thursday.
Poulin potted seven goals and added seven assists for 14 points in eight January tilts. Five of those 14 points came against two top-three teams in No. 1 Boston College (1g, 1a) and then-No. 3 Quinnipiac (1g, 2a). Both the Eagles and the Bobcats boasted the top two scoring defenses in the country when the Terriers played them.
The Beauceville, Quebec, native tied for the league lead in unassisted goals with three, including one against the top-ranked Eagles. She was also on the ice for 17 of the Terriers' 32 goals in January. In addition to her point production, Poulin won 60 percent of her faceoffs.
BU will be back in action on Saturday at New Hampshire. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
