EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Adela Cejnarova won the individual title and the Boston University golf team finished third at the Brown Bear Invitational held at Metacomet Country Club on Sunday and Monday.
Cejnarova was tied for the lead after 36 holes, but she chipped in for par on the first playoff hole to claim the title. She fired back-to-back rounds of 72 on the par-71 course to earn the first victory of her collegiate career.
BU finished third thanks to a two-round total of 602 (302-300). Eight of the 10 total rounds for the Terriers were at 78 or better and four players finished tied for 23rd or better. Junior Emily Tillo (75-76) and senior Kristyna Pavlickova (77-76) posted top-20 finishes. Tillo tied for 13th and Pavlickova tied for 20th.
Freshman Phyllis Tang improved upon her opening-round 78 with a 76 on Monday to tie for 23rd. Junior Sarah Easton (88-85) also competed for the Terriers. They finished just seven strokes back of second-place Princeton. Yale won with a score of 589.
The preseason favorite among the league's coaches and sports information directors, BU will compete in the Patriot League Championship this weekend at Navy. The Terriers finished second at last year's event. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday before Sunday's final round.
