The Boston University golf team will tee off at the Patriot League Championship this weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday before Sunday's final round.
The winner of the 54-hole tournament will earn the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. BU was the preseason favorite among the league's coaches and sports information directors, earning eight first-place votes. The Terriers finished second at last year's event after a fantastic final round.
Sophomore Adela Cejnarova, last year's Patriot League Rookie of the Year enters the weekend on a high note after her individual title at the Brown Bear Invitational. She is one of three All-Patriot League golfers from last season, with senior Kristyna Pavlickova (first team) and junior Emily Tillo (second team) returning as well. Tillo was hailed as the conference's top golfer for March and September, while Cejnarova earned that recognition for October.
Two Terriers will be making their Patriot League Championship debut this weekend in freshman Phyllis Tang and junior Sarah Easton. Tang will be one of the favorites to claim Rookie of the Year honors while Easton made her spring debut at Brown this past weekend.
Pavlickova will look to cap her collegiate career with a conference title after twice finishing in the top three at her last two conference tournaments. She was the runner-up last year and finished third at the MAAC Championship as a sophomore. Pavlickova is one of three Terriers (Tillo, Cejnarova) who have posted an individual victory as a Terrier. If she wins, it will be the first time in program history that three different golfers have picked up an individual championship.
The teams will tee off on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and then play a second 18 beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday's first tee time is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
