INDIANAPOLIS - The Boston University golf team will head to San Antonio, Texas, to play in a 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regional Championship, as announced on Monday night.
The Terriers automatically qualified for their first-ever NCAA Regional thanks to their victory at the Patriot League Championship on April 19. BU will tee off at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club at a regional hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio. The first of three rounds will take place on May 7, with the 54-hole regional set to be completed on May 9.
BU was one of 29 schools to automatically qualify to play at one of four regional sites. There are 72 teams in total that will vie for 24 spots at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships taking place May 22-27 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. Six teams from each regional will tee off at Concession. In addition, the low three individuals not on one of those six teams from each regional will advance to Florida.
Four players are averaging 80 or better in 2014-15, including Patriot League individual champion Adela Cejnarova, who has won each of the last two tournaments she has entered. Junior Emily Tillo was the runner-up at the conference championship while freshman Phyllis Tang finished fifth and was named Patriot League Most Outstanding Rookie.
