CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Junior Emily Tillo of the Boston University golf team was named Patriot League Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Friday.
Both Tillo and sophomore Adela Cejnarova were selected to the Academic All-Patriot League squad as well. BU has now secured two of the five spots on the squad in back-to-back years. Cejnarova was the lone sophomore on the team.
Tillo is the first person in Patriot League history to repeat as the Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She carried a 3.95 grade-point average as a Business Administration/Management major while also minoring in Journalism. She has also been on the Dean's List in all five of her semesters.
In addition to her success in the classroom, Tillo has been one of the top golfers in the conference all year. A two-time Patriot League Female Golfer of the Month, Tillo won the season-opening Dartmouth Invitational and finished runner-up to Cejnarova at the conference championship. She averaged a 76.20 over 25 rounds and compiled four top-10 finishes.
Cejnarova boasts a 3.57 GPA as an International Relations major and is on the Academic All-Patriot League team in her first year of eligibility. Named the Patriot League Golfer of the Month for April, Cejnarova has won her last two tournaments, including a six-stroke victory at the conference championship. She averaged a 77.52 over 25 rounds and posted three top-10 finishes.
BU will compete at the NCAA Regional in San Antonio, Texas, beginning May 7.
