JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Boston University men's 4x100m relay team competed during the third day of the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Championships, held at the University of North Florida on Saturday. Also competing for the Terriers was sophomore David Oluwadara, who made his NCAA debut in the triple jump.
The foursome of Justin Flynn, David Lagerberg, Alastair Prenn and Cameron Williams, finished the 4x100 with an excellent time of 40.19 seconds and in fifth place in their heat. The time matched the 40.19 the group ran at the IC4A Championships on May 17, which in addition to setting a new school record also broke the previous New England record of 40.27 seconds set by UConn in 2012.
Oluwadara capped an excellent sophomore season with a 15.03m (49-3¾ ) jump to finish 30th in a field of 48. His 15.51m jump at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational in April helped him advance to this weekend's NCAA Prelims.
Senior Rich Peters also competed on Saturday in the 5,000 meter run but was unable to finish the event. This weekend's competition marks the end of a remarkable career at BU for Peters. A 2014 second-team All-American and 2012 national runner-up in the mile, the Bristol, England native is the school's record holder in the 1,500 meters and is a two-time winner of the Mickey Cochrane Award, given annualy to BU's outstanding male student-athlete.
