September 22, 2015 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - The NCAA on Tuesday released its first Division I field hockey RPI rankings of the 2015 season and Boston University sits in 14th place.
The Terriers have won five of their first seven contests, picking up victories against New Hampshire, Hofstra, Maine and Providence before most recently topping Lafayette in their Patriot League opener on Saturday.
Four of the top nine teams in the RPI standings are on BU's remaining schedule (Syracuse - 2, Duke - 6, Wake Forest - 8, UConn - 9). BU is third amongst New England schools behind UConn and Boston College (13). The RPI rankings are a major component in the selection and seeding process for the NCAA tournament.
BU remained at No. 17 in this week's NFHCA Coaches Poll. There are currently 78 field hockey programs at the Division I level.
