BOSTON – The Boston University men's rowing team competed in Day 2 of the 52nd Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) on Sunday. Battling windy conditions throughout the afternoon, the day was highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the men's championship eights race. Over the two-day event, the men's rowing team combined for three top-5 finishes while competing against the best collegiate boats in the country.

HOW IT HAPPENED Â (Sunday)
- In the men's championship 8 race on Sunday, BU's first varsity boat, coxed by sophomore MacKenzie Hart and stroked by junior Max Ponsen, finished fifth with a time of 15:09.26. Only crews from Yale, Washington, Harvard and national champion California finished ahead of the Terriers in a field made up of 26 of the best boats in the country. The fifth-place finish matched the program's best ever finish at the HOCR, set last year.
- Also competing in the men's championship 8 was BU's second varsity eight boat. The 2V, coxed by sophomore Alexandra Reynolds and stroked by junior TJ Ruijgh, finished 20th with a time of 15:55.54.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Saturday)
- The men's third varsity boat, coxed by sophomore Sean Dooling and stroked by freshman Travis Kennedy, finished third in the club 8 race with a time of 15:37.12 in a field made up of 36 boats. Only boats from Harvard and Northeastern finished ahead of the Terriers 3V. In the same race, the BU fourth varsity, coxed by sophomore Jeane Garner and stroked by classmate Kyle Blackburn, finished 8th with a time of 15:48.86.
- Earlier in the day, BU also medaled in the men's club 4 race. Coxed by sophomore Nick Meehan and stroked by freshman Theo Warren, BU finished with a time of 17:06.65 to win bronze in a large field of 49 boats.
- Also competing for BU were several alumni boats, including the men's alumni 8 boat which took 4th
NOTES
- The BU men's varsity eight boat finished fifth in the championship 8 race for the second-consecutive year, matching their highest finish in program history in the race. The Terriers finished behind the same four schools in 2015 and 2016 in the champ 8 race, California, Washington, Harvard and Yale.
