Terriers to Make Short Trek to BC Monday Night

BOSTON – Continuing a season-opening three-game road trip, the Boston University women's basketball team will visit crosstown rival Boston College on Monday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
The squads will meet for the ninth consecutive season in a rivalry dating back to 1978 that was renewed in the second round of the 2009 WNIT. The Eagles won that matchup and five of the next seven to claim a 12-10 lead in the series. Coincidentally, the Terriers' leading scorer and rebounder that season, 2009 America East Player of the Year Jesyka Burks-Wiley (17.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg), is in her first year with the Eagles as an assistant.
BU (0-1) will look to rebound from Friday's 78-59 loss at Northeastern in which senior Sarah Hope and junior Corrine Williams led the Terriers with 13 points apiece. Senior Courtney Latham had a strong performance, tallying 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while junior Kara Sheftic had a career-high four steals with eight points. Junior transfer Sophie Beaudry made her debut as a Terrier and posted six points, six rebounds and three blocks.
The Eagles (0-1) are also seeking their first win after dropping a 65-56 decision at Hartford this past Friday. 2016 All-ACC Rookie Team member Mariella Fasoula had 19 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Emma Guy nearly had a double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds. Set for its home opener, BC last year went 8-7 at Conte Forum en route to a 15-16 season that ended with a loss in the second round of the ACC tournament. Kelly Hughes is the top-returning scorer and rebounder at 14.2 ppg and 5.5 rpg, respectively.
Following the matchup, BU will next travel to Albany on Saturday (Nov. 18) at 7 p.m.
