
Long Beach State Pulls Away Late From Terriers, 61-48

TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Boston University women's basketball team fell to Long Beach State, 61-48, in a hard-fought battle on Sunday in the second day of the Arizona State Classic. Junior center Sophie Beaudry and senior forward Meghan Green each scored 12 points to lead the Terriers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers came out of the gate strong, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor to start the game including a 3-pointer from Sarah Hope. BU led 11-3 with six minutes to go in the first quarter, forcing Long Beach to call an early timeout.
- Junior center Sophie Beaudry scored four points and added three rebounds, as BU led 15-6 after one quarter while BU's defense held the 49ers to 1-of-12 shooting in the first.
- LBSU senior guard Jewelyn Sawyer hit a three to cut BU's lead to 20-17 with 4:26 remaining in the half. Sawyer led the 49ers in the second quarter with five points to help cut BU's lead to 22-21 heading into the half.
- Senior forward Meghan Green came off the bench and scored 10 points in the third quarter. Green had four offensive rebounds to help keep the game close, as the teams headed into the final stanza with Long Beach holding a slim 41-39 lead.
- Senior guard Sarah Hope hit a three to make it a 49-46 game with four minutes to go but that was as close as it got for BU. The 49ers went on a 12-2 run to close out the game and make it a 61-48 final.
- Beaudry averaged a team-best 10.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 1.5 bpg in the two games to earn a spot on the ASU Classic All-Tournament Team.
- BU held a slight edge in rebounding, 36-34, and also in offensive rebounds, 15-13.
- LBSU had an edge in 3-point shooting going 9-24 (37.5%) from beyond the arc, while BU went 4-21 (19.0%).
- BU returns home to face Dartmouth on Wednesday (Dec. 7) at Case Gym at 5:30 p.m.
- The Big Green will make its first appearance at The Roof since 1998.
