
BU Begins Spring at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Highlighted by a team score of 299 on Monday, the Boston University golf team began its spring season at the 54-hole Kiawah Island Classic, which concluded Tuesday.
BU finished 22nd in the 41-team field, which is the largest in collegiate golf. The Terriers combined for a three-day total of 923, just five shots back of the 17th-place team. They opened the tournament with a score of 319 before battling back on the final two days with a 299 and a 305. Monday's round was the third best of the day.
Junior Adela Cejnarova (80-73-73) and sophomore Phyllis Tang (79-71-76) led the Terriers, as the duo finished tied for 34th at 226. Tang's one-under 71 on Monday was the team's lowest round of the weekend, highlighted by an eagle two on the par-4 fourth hole. After hitting driver off the tee, she hit a 7-iron against the wind for her eagle.
Senior Emily Tillo fired a second-round 74 and finished with a score of 232 (79-74-79). Tillo and Tang each had three rounds under 80. Freshman Megan Carter (81-83-77) saved her best round for Tuesday and finished with a total of 241. Senior Maddy Silverman carded a three-day total of 244 (81-81-82).
The Terriers totaled 23 birdies and one eagle this past weekend towards the team's 2016 Spring Birdies campaign. Cejnarova led the Terriers with 11 birdies and was an impressive four-under on par 5s during the weekend.
BU will be back in action on Monday, March 7 at the two-day, 36-hole Bucknell Spring Break Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
