CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Boston University golf team was unanimously chosen to defend its Patriot League title in the league's championship poll that was announced on Monday.
A year removed from winning the program's first Patriot League trophy, BU was the first-place pick of all opposing coaches and sports information directors, taking home 10 first-place votes and 50 points overall. Richmond followed with 38 points and the remaining two first-place votes while Lehigh (33), Bucknell (29), Navy (20) and Holy Cross (10) completed the poll order. Coaches and SIDs were not permitted to vote for their own team.
Three 2015 All-Patriot League selections return for the Terriers this year, including junior Adela Cejnarova, the defending champion and reigning Golfer of the Year. Senior Emily Tillo and sophomore Phyllis Tang were First Team All-League honorees last year after finishing second and fifth, respectively, in the conference tournament. Tang was also chosen as Rookie of the Year.
The 2016 Patriot League Championship will take place April 23-24 at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
BU begins play in the two-day, 36-hole Bucknell Spring Break Classic in Las Vegas on Monday.
