BOSTON – The Boston University golf team will welcome three players as part of its Class of 2020, head coach Bruce Chalas announced on Monday.
Zhangcheng Guo, Saeros Oskarsdottir and Abby Parsons will join the Terriers for the 2016-17 season. The three players are from three different countries, including the Terriers’ first-ever recruit from Iceland. All three are expected to make an immediate impact on a team that has finished either first or second in each of the last three Patriot League tournaments.
"This year we will be adding three players who I expect will add a lot of depth to our lineup,” Chalas said.
Guo, a native of Beijing, went to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She has compiled 11 top-10 finishes and five different top-three performances. Her best round was a 69, and she once carded a 32 over nine holes. In addition, she has two career holes-in-one and also won a Beijing Junior Golf Tour event in 2015.
Oskarsdottir is an experienced golfer from Iceland. She was a member of the Icelandic National Team from 2011-2015 and represented her country at the 2012 European Girls Team Championship. Last year, Oskarsdottir recorded two top-10 finishes and competed on the Icelandic Tour.
Parsons is from Pinehurst, North Carolina, and graduated from Union Pines High School. Parsons was the conference player of the year as a freshman and qualified for the state championship all four years. A four-time team MVP, Parsons won the 2014-15 Winternational Junior Series held at Pinehurst and was a 2015 Winternational All-American.
