SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Paul Luevano was victorious in his collegiate debut, one of five Terriers to place in the top 10 as the Boston University men's cross country team cruised to a win at the season-opening Nassaney Invitation hosted by Bryant on Saturday morning.
BU finished with 19 points, 45 clear of second-place Rhode Island. The only other Patriot League school in the event was Holy Cross, which totaled 118 points.
It was a banner day for the newest Terriers, as all four newcomers finished in the top 10. Luevano crossed the finish line in 25:17.0, well ahead of the second-place competitor. Senior Ethan Homan rounded out the top 10 with a time of 26:24, followed by classmate Cullin Burdett in 11th (26:29). Two other Terriers finished in the top 20, with sophomore Alexander Seal crossing the line in 16th (27:00) and classmate Zachary Prescott placing 18th (27:01).
