BOSTON – In a matchup featuring the last two Patriot League champions, the 2016 NCAA tournament participant Boston University softball team will open conference play at 2015 NCAA berth winner Lehigh on Saturday with action slated to begin at 10:15 a.m.
Saturday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for 12 p.m. but was pushed up in hopes of avoiding a potential afternoon rain shower.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Since joining the Patriot League in the summer of 2013, the Terriers are 31-22 (.585) in regular season action against conference opponents with two league tournament titles in three years ... BU though has yet to finish higher than second in the regular season standings.
- The Terriers have lost their last three games, totaling four runs in 21 innings after claiming a 5-4 win at defending Big West champion Cal State Fullerton.
- BU is batting .258 while holding opponents to .294 ... Opponents own a 60-44 advantage in walks and slight 23-22 advantage in stolen bases.
- A recipient of one PL Player of the Week honor this season, senior Moriah Connolly is batting a team-high .360 with 18 stolen bases off 20 attempts.

- BU's pitching staff features four Terriers with at least four appearances apiece ... Freshman Kali Magane (4-5, 3.23 ERA) and senior Makinna Akers (4-4, 3.37 ERA) have combined for the eight wins ... Both Akers and junior Sydni Overly (0-3, 6.68 ERA) have 27 strikeouts apiece.
- The Mountain Hawks will be playing their first home game of the season after spending the last two weeks in California.
- Lehigh already has 14 losses after posting a 36-16 (13-4 PL) record last season.
- Lehigh shared two non-conference opponents with BU, posting a split against NC State (5-4, 6-7) and dropping a 7-1 decision to Long Beach State.
- The Mountain Hawks are batting .247 and holding opponents to .290.
- Nicole Yozzo leads Lehigh at .333 with Rachel Timberman close behind at .326 ... Reva Alderman (.216) owns a team-high 12 RBIs.

- BU leads the all-time series, 7-5, after posting a split at home (2-0, 2-4/8 inn.) and claiming a 6-2 win in the PL semifinals at Lehigh in 2016 ... Both Martinez and Connolly had two-RBI hits in the final meeting.
- The Mountain Hawks won all three games at home in 2015 by a combined score of 23-2 en route to the conference title.
- The Terriers went 2-1 at home in 2014 ... They bounced back from a 3-0 loss with two victories, 6-4 and 8-4.
