September 25, 2017 | Field Hockey
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After recording a hat trick in her first-ever conference game, freshman Ailsa Connolly has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday.
BU opened its conference schedule on Saturday against Lafayette and Connolly scored on all three shots she took to lead the Terriers to a 5-1 victory over the Leopards, avenging their only league loss from 2016.
Connolly pushed the BU lead to 3-0 on a one-timer from senior Grace Boston in the 28th minute before scoring the final two goals of the game to cap the hat trick and the convincing victory. The freshman now leads the team in both points (12) and goals (6). She has scored her six goals on just eight shots.
This is the second time this season that Connolly has earned PL Rookie of the Year honors as she also received the award following the opening weekend of play.
