AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior
Alexander Seal finished 13th to lead the Boston University men's cross country team at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday afternoon at Audubon Golf Course.
Seal finished the 10K race with a time of 33:18.7 for his second straight top-20 performance at this event. The Austinmer, Australia, native was 19th a year ago. His strong race led the Terriers to a 15th-place finish as a team with 367 points.
"Alex did a real good job," head coach
Paul Spangler said. "He's traditionally been a miler, so to come into a 10K event like this and be a gnat's eyelash from qualifying bodes well for track season. I'm proud of the job he did."
Redshirt sophomore
Brett Davidson took 77th with a time of 34:39.7, followed by junior
Paul Luevano in 83rd (34:45.5). Senior
Zachary Prescott placed 95th with a time of 34:57.8, with classmate
Ian Anderson close behind in 99th (35:01.5). This was the second straight year that five Terriers finished in the top 100 at the NCAA Northeast Regional. Sophomore
Scotti Hamilton (36:28.3) and senior
Johnny Kemps (36:39.1) also competed on Friday.
"Ian improved a tremendous amount this year and I'm proud of what he accomplished today," Spangler said. "He really stepped up this year. We had good leadership with Zach, Alex, Ian and Johnny. We'll miss those guys next year in cross country, but we're happy to have them here for track."
Friday's race concluded the 2018 cross country season for the Patriot League runners-up. The Terriers will now turn their attention the indoor track & field season, which begins on Saturday, Dec. 1, when they host the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at the Track and Tennis Center.
