Davis, Stuart Secure Hockey East Weekly Awards
December 3, 2018 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Redshirt junior tri-captain Sammy Davis and freshman Kate Stuart both earned weekly awards from Hockey East, the league office announced on Monday.
Davis received recognition as the league's Player of the Week while Stuart secured Rookie of the Week honors. Both Terriers were instrumental in the Terriers' three wins in five days, including a weekend sweep of No. 4 Boston College.
Stuart shined on Friday night in Chestnut Hill, making a career-high 42 saves in a 3-2 victory. Fifteen of her stops came on the penalty kill against what was then the second-ranked power play among all Division I schools. Stuart has now won both of her collegiate starts and boasts a .938 save percentage along with a 2.00 goals-against average.
No Division I player, male or female, had more assists (6) or points (7) this past week than Davis. She began her terrific three-game stretch with a goal and an assist on Tuesday in a 5-2 win at Brown. Davis then recorded two assists, including the primary helper on the game-winning goal, in Friday's 3-2 victory. She concluded the weekend with a career-high three assists in Saturday's 4-2 triumph over the Eagles. Davis is currently on a seven-game point streak (4g, 11a), including five straight contests with two or more points.
BU will finish the first semester with two games at RIT on Dec. 7 and 8.
