BOSTON – BOSTON – Competing in its final home game of the regular season, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Lafayette on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

The BU Athlete Ally group will be hosting its inaugural Pride Night at the game and will be handing out a rainbow mini flag and shoe laces.

The contest is a critical one for both the Terriers and Leopards, as both are trying to clinch a Patriot League tournament first-round bye with two games remaining. The Terriers are in sole possession of fifth in the standings at 8-8, one behind current No. 4 Lehigh (9-7) and one ahead of both Lafayette (7-9) and Holy Cross (7-9).

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU is 5-7 at home this season with a 4-4 conference record ... The Terriers are looking to snap a two-game losing streak in Case Gym following losses to Navy (62-48) and Holy Cross (73-62).
Potentially making his final appearance on campus, senior Cedric Hankerson ranks fourth all-time in made 3-pointers (224), tied for fourth in steals (171) and 16th in career points (1,260) at BU.
Hankerson is averaging a team-high 13.9 ppg in PL action, just ahead of sophomore Max Mahoney (13.8 ppg) and sophomore Tyler Scanlon (13.0 ppg).
BU's No. 4 scorer Walter Whyte (10.3 ppg) has missed the last four games due to injury ... He was averaging 6.3 rpg with Scanlon leading the way at 7.1 rpg.
Scanlon is averaging a team-high 2.8 apg and has combined with senior Will Goff for 35 steals in 16 contests.
In the month of February, the Terriers are averaging 60.2 ppg and 42.3 FG% in five games after averaging 72.5 ppg and 46.8 FG% through the first 22 contests.

SCOUTING LAFAYETTE

The Leopards have won three out of their last four with home wins over Army West Point (81-54), Loyola Maryland (84-67) and American (90-85) ... The lone loss occurred at Navy (71-69).
Lafayette is 2-12 on the road compared to its 7-6 home record with wins at Colgate (71-68) and American (62-53).
Matt Klinewski is averaging a team-high 16.8 ppg and 5.7 rpg while shooting an impressive 44.8 percent from behind the arc and 50.2 percent overall.
Alex Petrie (15.6 ppg) and Justin Jaworski (10.5 ppg) are also averaging double figures, while Eric Stafford (5.1 ppg) is averaging a team-high 2.7 apg.
Lafayette is averaging 74.0 ppg on 47.2 FG% in conference games while holding teams to 72.6 ppg and 44.7 FG%.
One of the Leopards' biggest issues has been their ability to create turnovers, as they rank 347th nationally in steals (4.0 spg) and 334th in turnover margin (-3.3).

SERIES HISTORY

BU leads the all-time series, 11-6, dating back to 1948-49 and is 9-2 since joining the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
The Terriers eliminated the Leopards in the quarterfinals of 2014 but were eliminated themselves by Lafayette in the 2015 quarterfinals.
BU came back with sweeps in 2016 and 2017.
Back on Jan. 24 in Easton, the Terriers faced an eight-point deficit (44-36) with 15:40 remaining before going on a a 25-4 run capped by Goff's 3-pointer at 6:13 ... The Leopards rallied in the final minute to pull within two with eight seconds left, but the Terriers hit a free throw and forced a tough 3-point attempt to seal the 75-72 road win.
During the last meeting at Case Gym, the Terriers outscored Lafayette in the second half, 35-17, at Case Gym by tallying 20 of the points off 12 turnovers for the 75-58 win ... After leading by one at the half, the Leopards pulled within six (53-47) at 8:25, but BU responded with a 17-3 run over the following four minutes to put the game away.
