
Golf Opens Spring Season at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Highlighted by a second-round score of 295, the Boston University golf team began its spring season at the Kiawah Island Classic, a 54-hole tournament that finished on Tuesday.
BU combined for a score of 916 (307-295-314) to finish 22nd in a field of 43 teams. Monday's score of 295 came after four players all carded a score of 76 or lower to average a score of 73.75.
Freshman Katerina Doleckova led the Terriers with a three-day score of 227 (73-76-78), highlighted by an opening-round 73. Senior Phyllis Tang (76-73-79) and sophomore Zhangcheng Guo (76-74-78) each finsihed one stroke back of Doleckova at 228. All three Terriers carded a score of 79 or lower on all three days. Guo recorded an eagle on Monday while Doleckova made 37 pars throughout the tournament as part of her consistent play.
Junior Megan Carter had the Terriers' low round of the tournament with an even-par 72 on Monday. She finished with a 54-hole score of 233 (82-72-79). Sophomore Abby Parsons rounded out the team score with a 246 (82-80-84).
The Terriers will return to competition on March 14 when they begin the three-day, 54-hole Pinehurst Invitational that will be played on Pinehurst No. 8.
