With the win, BU takes sole possession of first place in the Patriot League standings and is the lone undefeated team remaining in conference play.
How It Happened
- BU fired on all cylinders to start the game, putting up a 9-0 run as four different Terriers got on the scoreboard.
- Equally dominant on the defensive end, BU held the Mountain Hawks to shoot just 9.1 percent from the floor in the first to surge ahead, 14-2.
- Riley Childs and Payton Hauck took over in the second quarter, combining for 10 of the team's 13 points to send the Terriers into the half with a 27-10 command.
- Nia Irving kept the momentum rolling by starting off the third quarter converting on an and-1 to make it a 20-point game.
- Lehigh flipped the switch, using a 17-5 run to trim BU's command to 35-27, but a drive by Naiyah Thompson in the waning seconds of the third quarter put the Terriers back ahead by double digits, 38-27.
- Looking to regain the momentum, the Terriers used the free throw advantage to get back in rhythm, using four straight makes to go up 46-34 midway through the fourth.
- BU continued to work the charity stripe as it closed out the game from the line to secure its fourth straight win.
- The two points were the fewest points the Terriers have surrendered in a quarter since allowing just two points at Loyola in the second quarter on Feb. 11, 2017.
- BU held the Mountain Hawks to shoot just 27.5 percent, their lowest shooting percentage of the season.
- Irving led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds.
- Childs made her presence known after missing the past two games due to injury, putting up 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with seven rebounds.
- Nelson also reached double figures for the fourth straight games with a 10-point effort.
- The Terriers pushed their win streak to four, their longest since the 2016-17 season.
- BU will return to Case Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 16 against Colgate at 7 p.m.
